Santa Fe, New Mexico February 15th, 1865;
My Dear little wife, I arrive here yesterday noon, with my detachment, after a very good, though cold trip. I do not know, at present, what I shall do; I only go to Fort Craig with the recruits, -if I do, it will be two weeks before I get to [illegible] again. Your heart-pin I have taken to [crossed out "g"] a jeweler. I will write, by the mail, to Col. A[illegible] - Tell Uncle H[illegible] to look out for you all. Kiss the babies for me, and [illegible] , my dearest love,
Ever your affectionate husband George
